President Trump announced on Tuesday retaliation measures in Canada after they slapped a 25% tariff on electricity sent to the United States, saying that he is adding a 25% rate on steel and aluminum.

Tariffs on those metals will now total 50%. Trump said in a publication about Truth Social that the biggest tariff “will enter into force tomorrow morning, March 12.”

Trump also said he is declaring a “national emergency in electricity”, in the area affected by Canada’s tariffs. He said that the national emergency “will allow the United States to quickly do what should be done” to respond to the Canada rate, without providing any details about the actions that the United States could take.

Trump also threatened strong tariffs in the automotive industry.

“If Canada does not reduce other atrocious and long rates, on April 2, the cars that enter the United States that, essentially, permanently closed the car manufacturing business in Canada,” Trump said in the position.

He also asked Canada to leave his tariffs on dairy producers. Trump finally called Canada once again to become state 51 of the United States.

“The artificial separation line drawn many years ago will finally disappear, and we will have the safer and most beautiful nation anywhere in the world, and its brilliant anthem,” Oh Canada “, will continue playing, but now it will represent a large and powerful state within the largest nation that the world has seen!” Trump said in the publication.
